While I've been a writer, baker and music maker since I was old enough to operate the various machinery involved, here are the finer points:
* I've been writing and editing as a full-time profession for the last nine years. I edit a trails magazine and generally write travel or issue-driven features. In addition to writing short stories and laughing at my bad poetry, I am in the R&D stage of a non-fiction book.
* After taking the 20-week Fundamentals of Pastry Technique course at L'Academie de Cuisine, and then serving as an assistant for an additional semester, I started making celebration cakes for friends and family. And while it's the fancy stuff that gets noticed, I love nothing more than a good, no-fuss, no-decorating, flourless torte.
* After 15 years of singing and acting (and then nearly a decade-long break) I have returned to take up the mandolin. I take lessons and play as much as possible with the goal of becoming passable within social circles that include only people who love me.
